Two Grants were received. A $20,000 grant from The Freed Foundation to be utilized to help CentraState’s oncology patients with special circumstances/needs such as helping patients pay for transportation to the hospital for treatments, equipment needs such as wheelchairs, walkers, etc., insurance co-payments, and wigs for those patients who experience hair loss during treatments.
The CentraState Health Awareness Center is the recipient of a $150,000 grant payable over 3 years from the New Jersey Department of Health. The funding will be used to implement a Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), a CDC-recognized, research-based lifestyle change program specifically developed to reduce the risk for developing Type II diabetes. CentraState chose to address diabetes because of its prevalence among the population it serves, particularly in the Freehold area, as described in the Community Health Needs Assessment.
